Our Story

The journey began in early 2007 when Phillip made a decision to form a small DJ company that would focus on hosting events in and around Cabarrus county in North Carolina. After 2 years of having tremendous success based on mostly referrals, visiting local schools, and very little advertising he was approached by a former KISS 95.1 colleague that he worked with in the past who was a part of one of the larger DJ companies in Charlotte. After multiple discussions with him and the owner of this company, Phillip made the decision to put his business on hold and join this select team of talented performers. Over the next few years, Phillip learned on how to be a better entertainer, business owner, and  event planner. Phillip made a calculated decision to leave this company and take his passion for music and entertaining to the next level as a more polished DJ/MC. Tar Heel Beatz is now ready to become one of the more recognized DJ/Entertainment companies in the state of North Carolina and beyond!
